RATING
0/5

With a deep amber colour and mahogany edge, this Port opens with aromas of dried fig, dehydrated apricot, pecan nut, brown sugar caramel, finishing with espresso coffee, toffee and candied orange peel. On the palate it shows a soft texture, medium-to-full body, well-balanced acidity (approx. pH 3.55) and elegant tannins that support the composition. The residual sweetness (~134 g/L)is well-integrated and the finish is persuasive, with lingering notes of heather-honey, toasted nut and old-wood nuance. Best served at 12-14 °C.

Product with History

Kopke, established in 1638, is the oldest Port wine house in operation and is based in Vila Nova de Gaia, along the Douro river. Its “Colheita” concept refers to single-harvest wines aged for many years in wood before bottling — preserving and expressing time and place. The 1979 edition reflects the house’s tradition: hand-harvested grapes, vinification in lagares under temperature control, fortification and extended maturation in oak casks, following Kopke’s philosophy of crafting age-worthy wines with character and elegance.
